For over a decade the Go Pink luncheon has been the largest women’s health event in Palm Beach. Crowds of over 1,500 show up dressed in their very best pink attire ready to fight breast cancer at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Raffles, prizes, shopping, entertainment, and celebrity guests are a highlight at the esteemed event. In previous years, over $1 million in funds have been raised for the Boca Raton Regional Hospital to benefit the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute (LCI) and the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute.
The 14th annual event had a garden theme with a color palette of various pink tones and white. Guests were greeted at the Mizner Center entrance with a Mercedes Benz and a pair of “triple height” floral topiaries set atop white decorative risers. They then proceeded on a pink carpet to the registration table which had an ombre style backdrop and an incredible floral display showcasing the event name. A faux boxwood foliage Wall of Strength held decorative pink ribbons with donors’ names who exemplified strength, courage, and perseverance. A custom designed double-sided AutoNation Pink Daisy Pick Raffle wall held gerbera daisies while the Kendra Scott display wheel held more giveaways.
Low lush sprawling centerpieces set in footed compotes contained coordinating mixed florals of hydrangea, roses, and lisianthus with accents of delicate wildflowers. Others had an ombre approach starting with deep hot pink to light pink, and white blooms. The grand stage was carpeted and skirted completely in pink with a collection of parasols and more lush florals to complete the look.
Even though the event is once a year, let’s continue to honor and recognize those who have survived breast cancer, those currently fighting, and those who lost their battle with the disease. The color pink has become associated with breast cancer awareness, but it actually goes back to an early 1500’s expression that has nothing to do with the popular hue. The English idiom means “to be at the peak of health in perfect condition”. Think Pink! Go Pink!…it’s a cure worth fighting for each and every day.
